An AI Trainer (AI Training Specialist) is a professional who improves the performance, accuracy, safety, and alignment of artificial intelligence models — particularly Large Language Models (LLMs). They create training data, evaluate model outputs, fine-tune responses, and help shape AI behavior to be helpful, harmless, and honest. This role exists across AI companies (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta), AI training data companies (Scale AI, Surge AI), enterprises deploying LLMs, and freelance/contract platforms. AI Trainers bridge the gap between raw model capabilities and production-ready performance — often working on reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF).
