Air Traffic Controller

An Air Traffic Controller—frequently referred to as an ATCO, air traffic control specialist, tower controller, en route controller, or approach control officer—is an elite aviation safety and airspace management professional responsible for maintaining safe, orderly, and expeditious movement of commercial, military, and private aircraft on the ground and through global airspace. Unlike airline pilots who operate specific aircraft, air traffic controllers manage the macro-level traffic flow, utilizing advanced radar surveillance, digital flight strips, weather radar systems, and radio communications to orchestrate separation between multiple high-speed aircraft simultaneously. What a Air Traffic Controller does

· Monitor and direct the movement of aircraft on airport runways, taxiways, and aprons to prevent ground collisions between planes and service vehicles. · Issue precise takeoff and landing clearances, heading vectors, altitude assignments, and speed adjustments to pilots via very high frequency (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) radio links. · Separate aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) using mandated radar and procedural separation minima. · Coordinate traffic handoffs smoothly between ground control, local tower control, terminal approach control (TRACON), and en route area control centers as flights transition across sectors. · Analyze real-time meteorological data, wind shear reports, convective storm cells, and low-visibility conditions to vector aircraft safely around hazardous weather
