Architect

An Architect is a licensed professional who plans, designs, and oversees the construction of buildings and other physical structures. They combine art, science, and technology to create spaces that are functional, safe, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing. Unlike engineers (structural focus) or construction managers (execution focus), architects lead the overall design vision, integrate all building systems, and protect the client's interests throughout the project lifecycle. This role exists within architectural firms (sole practitioners to large international firms), engineering and construction firms (design-build), real estate development companies, government agencies (public works, schools, housing authorities), corporate in-house design departments (retail, tech campuses, hospitality), and academic institutions (teaching and research). Architects work on residential homes, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, cultural institutions (museums, theaters), urban design projects, and master-planned communities.
