Logistics Coordinator

A Logistics Coordinator—frequently referred to as a supply chain specialist, freight coordinator, transportation dispatcher, inventory controller, or logistics operations analyst—is a specialized supply chain, inventory, and multimodal transportation management professional responsible for organizing, tracking, and optimizing the physical flow of goods, raw materials, and finished products from point of origin to final destination. Unlike a procurement officer who focuses on purchasing or a warehouse picker who physically packs boxes, logistics coordinators manage the macro-level operational network, synchronizing carriers, warehouse facilities, customs brokers, and client delivery schedules. This role exists within manufacturing enterprises, retail corporations, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight forwarding firms, e-commerce fulfillment hubs, and international trade organizations. Logistics coordinators operate from corporate supply chain offices, distribution centers, and freight hub facilities. Work schedules typically follow standard business hours, though operational disruptions or international shipments may require extended availability, real-time tracking oversight, and shift flexibility.
