Medical Laboratory Scientist

A Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)—also known as a clinical laboratory scientist or medical technologist—analyzes patient biological specimens (blood, tissue, urine, and body fluids) using complex biomedical instruments and molecular techniques to detect diseases, monitor treatments, and provide vital diagnostic data to physicians. Unlike clinical physicians who examine patients directly, laboratory scientists operate behind the scenes in specialized hospital laboratories, research facilities, and reference labs, ensuring the absolute analytical accuracy of diagnostic tests that inform over seventy percent of all medical decisions. What a Medical Laboratory Scientist does
