Microbiologist

A Microbiologist—frequently referred to as a clinical microbiologist, bacteriologist, virologist, industrial fermentation scientist, or public health epidemiologist—is a specialized microscopic organism analysis, pathogen isolation, culturing, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing professional responsible for studying bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae, and protozoa to prevent disease outbreaks, ensure public food and water safety, develop vaccines, and optimize industrial fermentation processes. Unlike a general biologist who studies macroscopic plants and animals or a biochemist who focuses on cellular macromolecules, a microbiologist investigates single-celled and microscopic life forms that profoundly impact human health, ecosystems, and manufacturing industries. What a Microbiologist does
