A Musician is a performing artist who creates, performs, or records music as a soloist, band member, session player, or vocalist. They may play one or multiple instruments, sing, compose, arrange, and collaborate across genres. Musicians work in live performance, recording studios, education, composition, and content creation. This role exists across touring bands, orchestras, session work (studio recording), cruise ships, wedding bands, music education (private lessons, schools), composing for media (film, TV, games), worship music, military bands, and online content creation (YouTube, Twitch, TikTok). Musicians are both artists and small business owners — most piece together multiple income streams.
