A Plumber—often referred to as a master plumber, pipefitter, sanitary systems specialist, or mechanical utility technician—is a specialized installation, maintenance, and fluid systems professional responsible for designing, installing, testing, and repairing water supply, drainage, sewage, and gas distribution systems. Unlike civil engineers who design massive municipal water treatment plants or HVAC technicians who focus primarily on air conditioning airflow, plumbers take direct technical control of the intricate network of pipes, valves, fixtures, and pumps that deliver clean drinking water into buildings and safely remove greywater and blackwater waste. This role exists within plumbing contracting firms, building construction enterprises, facility management divisions, municipal utility agencies, and specialized mechanical service companies. Plumbers operate across active commercial and residential construction sites, building basements, ceiling voids, tight residential crawlspaces, and municipal trenching sites. Work hours typically combine morning tool and material loading, blueprint reading, pipe cutting, threading, and joint soldering with active diagnostic testing, leak isolation, and emergency repair calls.

· Install, maintain, and repair water supply lines, drainage pipes, vent stacks, sewage lines, and gas distribution piping using copper, PEX, PVC, cast iron, and galvanized steel. · Interpret architectural plumbing schematics, isometric piping drawings, and building blueprints to determine precise pipe routing, slope angles, and fixture connections. · Measure, cut, thread, bend, solvent-weld, solder, and fusion-weld pipes to assemble complex water distribution and drainage networks. · Install and commission plumbing fixtures, including toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, water heaters, sump pumps, pressure booster pumps, and backflow preventers. · Conduct rigorous pressure testing on water supply lines and hydrostatic leak tests on sanitary drainage systems using test gauges and pumps
