How Do I Identify My Core Values?
Identifying your core values is not simply selecting ten attractive words from a list.
Values become meaningful when you understand how they influence your decisions. Your values become clearer when you observe what you repeatedly prioritize, protect and respond strongly to.
Examine peak moments
Think about moments when you felt deeply satisfied. Was it because of freedom, service, achievement, learning, or connection? That reveals what matters.
Examine frustration
If unfairness repeatedly bothers you, fairness is a value. If unnecessary restrictions frustrate you, autonomy may be important.
Test your values
A value is more meaningful when it appears in behaviour. If you claim learning matters, how much time do you actually invest in learning?
