How Students Can Build Career-Relevant Skills
Students do not need to wait until employment to start developing useful skills.
Career-relevant skills can be developed through
School projects; personal projects; student organizations; volunteering; competitions; presentations; writing; digital projects; community activities; part-time work; internships; teaching others.
The important principle is application
Instead of saying "I am learning communication," create evidence: "I presented a project to a group of 30 students." Instead of "I am interested in leadership," create evidence: "I coordinated a student project and organized responsibilities across five members." Skill becomes more credible when there is evidence of application.
Your career journey does not have to begin with knowing everything. It can begin with understanding yourself better.
