How Personal Values Affect Teamwork
Values influence what people consider important.
One person may strongly value: accuracy; speed; harmony; innovation; fairness; autonomy; service; achievement; stability.
These priorities can affect team decisions. For example, someone who values accuracy may slow down to verify information. Someone who values speed may prefer rapid experimentation.
Neither value is automatically wrong.
The challenge comes when values are: incompatible with the task; misunderstood; never discussed; treated as personal defects.
Healthy teams can make important differences visible. The Penagix approach is not: “Make everyone value the same things.” It is: “Understand the values influencing contribution and create enough alignment around the team's shared purpose.”
Team contribution is more than just completing a task.
