Passion vs Interest: What's the Difference?

Interest is curiosity or attraction toward a subject or activity. Passion usually implies stronger emotional investment, enthusiasm or commitment.

You might be interested in photography because you enjoy learning about it. You might be passionate about it because you devote significant time, energy and emotion to mastering or expressing it.

Interest can become passion

But interest can be enough to begin career exploration.

People sometimes wait for overwhelming passion before taking action. That can be limiting because interests often become stronger after exposure, competence and meaningful experience.

Instead of demanding instant passion, career exploration can allow interests to develop through experimentation.
