Qualification vs Employability

A qualification generally demonstrates that a person has completed a recognised course of study, training or assessment.

Employability is broader.

It can include:

  • qualifications
  • skills
  • experience
  • communication
  • adaptability
  • problem-solving
  • learning ability
  • evidence
  • professional behaviour

A qualification can open a door.

It does not necessarily demonstrate everything that happens after the door opens.

Think of Them as Different Layers

Qualification:

"What have you formally studied or been certified in?"

Skill:

"What can you do?"

Experience:

"Where have you applied it?"

Evidence:

"What demonstrates your capability?"

Employability:

"How prepared are you to enter, contribute and develop within work?"

This is why Penagix treats career development as broader than qualification alone.
