Skills Self-Assessment Guide

A skills self-assessment helps you move from the vague statement "I have skills" to a clearer understanding of what you can actually do.

01

List Your Skills

Think across categories: Technical skills (tools/systems), Thinking skills (analysis/research), People skills (teaching/negotiating), and Execution skills (organizing/planning).

02

Rate Your Current Level

Use a 5-point scale: 1 (Beginner), 2 (Developing), 3 (Working independently), 4 (Strong in complex situations), 5 (Advanced/Capable of teaching).

03

Add Evidence

A skill without evidence is difficult to communicate. Instead of claiming "good at leadership," describe how you "led a five-person project and coordinated deliverables."

04

Identify Gaps

Ask which skills are important for your desired direction, which you already have, which are weak, and which you can develop within the next 30-90 days.

Map Your Skills Profile

Use Penagix to build a comprehensive profile of your current skills and identify the ones you need to develop next.
