What Is Observational Skill?

Observational skill is the ability to notice relevant information accurately and deliberately.

Observation vs interpretation

"The customer is angry" is interpretation. "The customer raised their voice, repeated the same complaint, and asked to speak with a supervisor" gives evidence that can then be interpreted.

Observational skill can involve

Noticing changes; identifying patterns; detecting inconsistencies; recording relevant details; distinguishing observation from assumption.
