QuestionWorkplace
What Makes Someone a Good Fit for a Role?
A good role fit is rarely determined by one factor.
A person may be a strong candidate when several dimensions reasonably align.
Relevant Skills
Can the person perform the important tasks?
Experience
Have they encountered similar situations?
Strengths
Do they demonstrate capabilities that can contribute to the role?
Values
Are the expectations reasonably compatible with what matters to them?
Work Environment
Can they function effectively within the organisational context?
Learning Capacity
Can they develop the capabilities that are currently missing?
Motivation
Do they have meaningful reasons to engage with the work?
Good fit therefore does not necessarily mean:
"This person can already do everything."
It may instead mean:
"This person has a strong combination of current capability, potential, motivation and alignment for this role."
