Why Academic Performance Does Not Reveal Every Ability
Academic performance provides valuable information. It can show achievement in particular subjects and learning contexts. But a report card is not a complete map of human capability.
Students may demonstrate important abilities through
Organizing events; explaining ideas to classmates; building things; solving practical problems; creating visual work; leading groups; caring for others; performing; persuading; researching independently; spotting patterns.
The better question
"What does my academic performance tell me, and what other evidence about my abilities should I investigate?" This does not make academic performance irrelevant. It means students should examine multiple forms of evidence.
Your career journey does not have to begin with knowing everything. It can begin with understanding yourself better.
