A student who coordinates a group assignment may have practiced: planning + communication + coordination + conflict management.
Small business example
A person who runs a small business may have practiced: customer service + negotiation + budgeting + marketing + decision-making.
The discovery question
Ask: "What capability was I repeatedly using even though nobody called it a skill?" Then translate the activity into capability. Activity: organized an event. Transferable skills: planning, coordination, communication, problem-solving, stakeholder management.
Knowing your skills is useful. Understanding where those skills come from, which abilities may support them, and where they can take you gives you a much clearer picture.
