How to Prove Transferable Skills on a Resume

A resume should not merely announce skills. It should demonstrate them. Compare: "Communication skills" with: "Presented weekly project updates to a cross-functional team and coordinated feedback across three departments." The second provides evidence.

1

Use the Evidence Structure

Action → Skill → Context → Result

2

Example

"Coordinated a 10-person volunteer team to deliver a community outreach event attended by 200 participants." This demonstrates several capabilities without simply listing them. Potential skills include: leadership; organization; communication; coordination.

3

Connect Skills to the Target Role

If applying for project coordination, emphasize evidence of: planning; coordination; deadlines; stakeholder communication; problem-solving. Do not give every skill equal attention. Make the most relevant transferable capabilities visible.
