Passion vs Career: What Should Come First?
There is no universal rule that passion must come first.
Different sequences work
Sometimes a person starts with a strong interest and builds capability around it. Sometimes capability develops first and deeper interest grows through mastery. Sometimes a person's values lead them toward a field before passion becomes obvious.
A useful model
Interest creates exploration → practice builds capability → experience provides evidence → values clarify fit → opportunity shapes direction. Passion can emerge or deepen through meaningful competence.
Better questions
"What problems do I enjoy working on, what am I naturally suited to contribute, and what am I willing to become good at?"
Better career decisions come from combining self-understanding with evidence about real opportunities.
