What Is Innovation Skill?
Innovation skill is the capability to identify opportunities for improvement and turn useful ideas into implemented changes. Innovation is therefore broader than having ideas.
The innovation cycle
Observe → identify opportunity → generate → test → learn → improve → implement.
Example
An employee who notices repeated customer delays could redesign a process, test the new workflow, measure the result, and help implement the improvement.
Innovation requires both imagination and execution
An idea that never becomes useful action remains an idea.
A skill can be developed. But understanding how a capability connects with your natural gifts, values, and possible career direction can make development more intentional.
