How Feedback Improves Skill Development
Feedback creates information about the gap between current performance and desired performance.
Questions feedback should answer
What worked? What failed? Why? What should I change? What should I repeat? What should I practice next?
Weak vs strong feedback
"Do better" is weak feedback. "Your explanation became difficult to follow because you introduced three concepts without showing how they connect" gives the learner something actionable.
Properties of useful feedback
Specific + timely + relevant + actionable. The learner still needs judgment — not every piece of feedback is correct, and not every suggestion should be adopted.
Knowing your skills is useful. Understanding where those skills come from, which abilities may support them, and where they can take you gives you a much clearer picture.
