Phase 1Years 1–3
Law Degree / GDL
- Complete an LLB (Law) degree — or any degree + 1-year GDL conversion
- Study core subjects: Contract, Tort, Criminal, Land, Equity, EU, and Public Law
- Participate in mooting, debating, and law clinic activities
- Join the Law Society and pro bono legal clinics
- Target vacation schemes at law firms during Year 2

Phase 2Year 4
SQE / LPC
- Complete the SQE1 (Solicitors Qualifying Exam Part 1) — functioning legal knowledge
- Study for the LPC (Legal Practice Course) if on the older route
- Develop practical skills: drafting, research, client interviewing, negotiation
- Secure a training contract or qualifying work experience (QWE)
- Network actively: attend legal events, connect on LinkedIn

Phase 3Years 4–6
Training Contract / QWE
- Complete a 2-year training contract at a law firm (SRA-authorised)
- Rotate through at least 3 practice areas (corporate, litigation, property, etc.)
- Pass SQE2 — practical legal skills assessment
- Develop your specialism: commercial, family, criminal, IP, employment, etc.
- Build client relationships and demonstrate commercial awareness

Phase 4Year 6+
Qualification & Growth
- Qualify as a Solicitor — added to the SRA Roll
- Work as an NQ (Newly Qualified) solicitor at 1–3 PQE level
- Work toward Senior Associate, then Partner track
- Consider in-house legal roles at corporations or government bodies
- Build thought leadership: publish articles, speak at events, join bar associations
