Phase 1Years 1–3
Undergraduate Degree
- Complete a degree in your chosen subject (e.g. Mathematics, English, Biology)
- Maintain a strong academic record — most PGCE programmes require a 2:2 or above
- Volunteer in schools during holidays to build experience
- Join university education societies and mentorship programmes
- Build confidence in public speaking and communication

Phase 2Year 4
Teacher Training
- Complete a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) — 1 year
- Or apply for School Direct (school-based route) or Teach First (for high graduates)
- Complete two school placements in contrasting settings
- Demonstrate the 8 Teachers' Standards throughout placements
- Pass your QTS assessments to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

- Complete the 2-year Early Career Framework (ECF) as a newly qualified teacher
