Phase 1Years 1–3

Architecture Degree (Part 1)

  • Complete a 3-year ARB/RIBA accredited Architecture BA/BSc degree
  • Build a portfolio of design studio projects throughout the course
  • Learn CAD software: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Rhino
  • Study architectural history, theory, structures, and environmental design
  • Exhibit your work and seek summer internship placements at practices

Phase 2Year 3–4

Year Out (PEDR)

  • Complete 12 months of practical experience in an architectural practice
  • Log all experience in your PEDR (Professional Experience & Development Record)
  • Work across design, production, and construction stages on real projects
  • Develop professional skills: client communication, project management, site visits
  • Aim to obtain Part 1 experience sign-off from your supervising architect

Phase 3Years 4–6

Masters (Part 2)

  • Complete a 2-year ARB/RIBA accredited MArch (Part 2) degree
  • Develop a personal design thesis and architectural identity
  • Collaborate on live projects, competitions, and research
  • Deepen skills in BIM (Building Information Modelling)
  • Build international design exposure through study trips and competitions

Phase 4Years 6–7+

Registration (Part 3)

  • Complete 24 months minimum post-Part 2 experience in practice
  • Pass the ARB/RIBA Part 3 examination (Professional Practice)
  • Study contract law, project management, and professional ethics
  • Become fully ARB-registered — you are now legally an Architect
  • Join the RIBA and build your professional network
  • Target Associate or Project Architect roles to grow into practice leadership
